TMS is currently approved by the FDA to treat Major Depression.

Brainsway TMS is done and supervised by a Psychiatrist.

TMS is done in the office setting.

TMS does not need any anesthesia.

Patient remains alert during the TMS session.

Brainsway TMS session lasts about 20 minutes.

No disruption in driving or daily activites with TMS.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation therapy uses short pulses of magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the area of the brain thought to control mood.

The objective of TMS therapy is to stimulate conduction in neurons.

TMS targets the circuits of the brain that have been under active during depression (the prefrontal circuit).

Deep TMS stimulates 2.5 times deeper in the brain than the figure 8 coil.

Deep TMS Session is only 20 min

Treatment consists of a burst of 2 seconds of magnetic pulses with 20 seconds of rest in between magnetic pulses.

Total of 55 bursts of magnetic pulses per session.

Total time is about 20 minutes.

There is a clicking noise when the magnetic field is generated.

One can experience dull scalp pain or headache which is short lived.

Rare Side Effects of TMS

Treatment induced seizure has been reported in 1 in 30,000 sessions.

Seizure is terminated when the machine is shut off.
